BILLY DIB ACCEPTS FIGHT WITH JACK ASIS PhilBoxing.com Fri, 14 Aug 2015 BILLY DIB TO JACK ASIS: I ACCEPT, LET THE NEGOTIATIONS BEGIN Revenge vs Redemption - Billy Dib declares Jack Asis can't beat him. FORMER TWO TIME WORLD CHAMP BILLY DIB has publicly stated he wants to fight Toowoomba's IBO World Champ Jack Asis. Previously the only talk of the bout was done in private with Dib personally phoning Asis's manager Brendon Smith on two occasions. Today Dib posted on his facebook page "Five years ago Jack 'The Assassin' Asis and I faced off in Wollongong in a fight that I won via a 4th round decisive knockout. In what could be called a Cinderella story he has gone on to become the current IBO super featherweight Champion. However the loss to me still bothers him and he has thrown down the challenge. My response is I ACCEPT Let the negotiations begin." Dib was also interviewed on WIN News last night (A link to the story is attached below) "I always like a challenge and I spoke to Brendon Smith expressing my interest in fighting Jack in a re-match and Brendon was all for it." In the interview Dib was also very forthright on what he believes the outcome will be. "I don't envision Jack would be the type of fighter that could beat me," Dib told WIN News. The pair met in 2010, Billy Dib the victor by fourth round KO. On that occasion Asis took the bout on very short notice and was having his third fight in 63 days. He's adamant this time will be different. "This time will be very different, this time I knock you out," a fired up Jack Asis said. "You no longer the champion, I'm the holder of the IBO world title. "I know you call my manager saying you want to fight me, well I'm excited. "After this fight you retire." After Dib's post on facebook this morning - Asis responded. Jack Asis wants the fight, Billy Dib wants the fight so now it comes down to negotiations for this super fight which has been billed Revenge vs Redemption. "As Jack's manager I will do all I can to make this fight happen," Brendon Smith said. "From the moment I mentioned to Jack that Billy Dib had phoned me asking about the possibility of a bout - the change in Jack has been incredible. "I can see how much he wants this one. "It's a fight that deserves coverage across Australia. "Jack Asis vs Billy Dib for the IBO super featherweight title has tremendous appeal to boxing fans in this country. "Whether it's Toowoomba, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, wherever, we want to make this fight happen. "It's a huge fight and Toowoomba is a very realistic option to host this one," Smith said. |
