SAMSUNG TO SPONSOR JULY 7 CARD!
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Fri, 18 May 2007
Samsung, one of Asia's biggest companies and a South Korean conglomerate (chaebol) composed of numerous businesses, including Samsung Electronics, one of the world's largest electronics companies, has expressed interest in sponsoring the big July 7 card in Cebu featuring Korean and Filipino fighters.
The event will be promoted by SGG Sports Promotion in cooperation with Korea's Boxing Plaza Entertainment, and will be held at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel.
Top Filipino promoter Sammy Gello-ani said that South Korean promoter Lee Dong Gyu informed him today that Samsung will be part of the event through an sponsorship package, as the electronics giant is keen on maintaining its sports marketing thrust in the region.
Boxing Plaza top honcho Park Yong Min, and their planning manager Han Sang Ho were also present when Lee made the commitment to Gello-ani.
Last April, SGG and the Korean group announced their collaboration at a press conference held in Cebu City, informing the media that the partnership is expected to give Filipino and Korean boxers much-needed exposure and ring activities through the involvement of television in the Philippines and abroad.
