PETALCORIN AND MA YI MING MAKE WEIGHT By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Fri, 24 Apr 2015 BEIJING- Randy Petalcorin of the Philippines and Ma Yi Ming of China easily made the light flyweight limit during the official weigh-in held Thursday afternoon at the Crowne Plaza Hotel here in Beijing. Petalcorin, the defending WBA interim world light flyweight titlist, was at 107 lbs while Ma stepped on the scales at 108lbs. They will fight at the Capital Arena on April 24 Friday. Petalcorin (22W-1L-1D,17KO's) won his title last August in Shanghai by stopping Panamanian Walter Tello in seven rounds. In that same card held at the Mercedez Benz Arena, Ma beat Thai Marakote Patanakan Gym by third round knockout. Last December, Ma Yi Ming (12-5,7KO's) captured the WBO Asia-Pacific light flyweight title by beating Indonesian Tommy Seran by unanimous decision. The referee will be Raul Caiz,Jr. The judges are Carla Caiz, Michael Lee and Chalerm Prayadsab. In a special attraction to the FIST OF POWER III boxing card, the WBO will award a China light heavyweight championship belt to the winner of the bout between Qu Peng of China and Australian Dane Campbell. The referee will be Atty. Danrex Tapdasan. The three judges are Edward Ligas, Sawang Thaweekoon and Arnie Najera. There are five more bouts scheduled - Peng Ding Gui vs Xu Que - 4 rounds, Yotkunsuk Mor.Pouwana (Thailand) vs Zulpikar (China) - 6 rounds, Kajornsak Sithsaithong (Thailand) vs Xia Shun Kai (China)- 4 rounds, Huang Ju Xiang vs Adili Abulimiti 6 rounds, Liu Peng Fei vs Yeliqiati Nihemaituola - 4 rounds. Bouts for FIST OF POWER III starts at 7 PM. There will also be another fight card on the same day and venue set at 1PM and will be composed of nine pair of four rounders billed as FIST POWER. SECA, which is promoting boxing events here in partnership with Top Rank, will be looking at the winners of these nine bouts for future big cards.
