Tibay ng Pinoy 7 in Panabo April 5

PhilBoxing.com

DAVAO CITY -- The MP Promotions, USA LLC in coordination with the Joven Sports Promotions is staging its "Tibay ng Pinoy 7: Matira ang Matibay" on April 5 at 5 p.m. at the Panabo Freedom Park in Panabo City.

"This is just a small card since we are preparing for a much bigger card in General Santos City after the mega buck fight by our boss Cong. Manny Pacquiao on May 2," said co-promoter Joven Jimenez.

Featured in the main event of the Tibay ng Pinoy 7 is the 10-rounder between undefeated Jay-Ar "The Hitman" Inson of MP Stable Davao and former Mindanao Professional Boxing Association (Minproba) featherweight champion Elmer Legaria of Mayor Jojo Lopez Stable of Maasim, Sarangani Province.

It will be the first 10-round fight for Inson, who has a record of seven straight wins with four knockouts, no defeat or draw.
The 24-year old Inson previously won via a unanimous decision against Gabby Siempo last Jan. 31, 2015 at the USEP Gym in Davao City after stopping in the first round Phil Angcamor last Nov. 8, 2014 at the Almendras gym.

The 5-foot-7 Inson won his first three fights all by technical knockout against Wariel Verano (2nd round), Eddie Gomez (1st round) and Hagibis Quinones (3rd round).

Legaria, on the other hand, is a veteran fighter who has fought but lost in three title-fights including the World Boxing Council (WBC) International featherweight and WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental lightweight titles.

Legaria dropped a unanimous decision to Jon Talape in their 12-rounder bout for the vacant WBC International featherweight title last March 5, 2011 in Taguig City.

Legaria also suffered a second round knockout against Nelson Gulpe in their 12-rounder for the vacant WBC ABCC lightweight crown last April 21, 2012 in Zambales.

He also bowed to James Bacon by a 1st round KO for the vacant Philippine super featherweight title last July 29, 2011.
Legaria previously fought and lost by a 1st round knockout against the undefeated International Boxing Federation (IBF) Asian junior welterweight champion Adones Cabalquinto also of MP Stable Davao last August 23, 2014 at Almendras gym.
"Kulang lang talaga sa tamang ensayo si Legaria. May lakas sana siya,' said Jimenez.

In his pro debut, Legaria knocked out Hernando Acasio in the 1st round last Feb. 10, 2007 at his own hometown in Maasim.

Legaria continued his winning form in his next eight fights including a 9th round TKO over Jojo Amado on July 14, 2008.
Legaria suffered his first loss from the hands of Elf Getgamo via 3rd round KO in Talisay, Cebu on October 3, 2005. But he bounced back with back-to-back wins against Melvin Ayudtud (unanimous decision) and Rene Bucag (6th round KO).

Legaria has promised to regain his old deadly form against the younger Inson in the April 2 card which is free to the public. LITO DELOS REYES
