?PINOY PRIDE 30 ? D DAY? FIGHTERS TRAINING RELENTLESSLY By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 06 Mar 2015 The three mainstays on the ?Pinoy Pride 30 ? D DAY? fight card at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on March 28 continue to train relentlessly, determined to give fight fans in Metro-Manila a night of exciting action. WBO light flyweight champion Donnie Nietes, the longest reigning Filipinos world champion, sparred ten rounds with former OPBF flyweight champion Ardin Diale and John Vergil Bitor and looked in devastating form while super bantamweight IBF Intercontinental champion Prince Albert Pagara engaged Arjan Canillas and Lulu in eight rounds of torrid action. Trainer Edmund Villamor was extremely pleased with the performance of the two ALA fighters emphasizing that Nietes was ?better than ever? and taking his title defense against Gilberto Parra of Mexico very seriously since Parra has a record of 17 knockouts in 19 wins with just two defeats. Villamor was even more impressed with Pagara who looked even better than his sparring the previous day and showed some excellent movement while ripping shots to the body and head of his sparring partners. Five division world champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire, clearly learning from his stunning stoppage loss to WBA featherweight champion Nicholas ?Axe Man? Walters continued his relentless training program, determined to make a statement when he faces Brazil?s William Prado in the co-main event at the Araneta Coliseum where he last fought in 2009 and scored a rousing 4th round TKO over previously undefeated Raul Martinez. Donaire told us should he win impressively against Prado he has been promised by Top Rank promoter Bob Arum a possible title fight in Macau in July where he will be the main event. ABS-CBN reporter Dyan Castillejo who interviewed Arum in Macau told the Manila Standard/Viva Sports that the Top Rank promoter expects Donaire to put on a great show before his hometown fans. Arum said ?Nonito Donaire makes his appearance in the Philippines after a number of years and I?m sure he?s gonna give a great account of himself? even as he indicated he expects Donaire and Prado to slug it out in their battle for the North American Boxing Federation super bantamweight title.
