CHINESE WHISPERS: JOSH 'THE BOSS' BAILLIE TO FIGHT IN CHINA IN FEBRUARY PhilBoxing.com Tue, 13 Jan 2015 JOSH THE BOSS BAILLIE IS THE LATEST Smithy's Gym boxer to earn an opportunity to fight over seas this year. The Cumbrian native who now calls Toowoomba home has been signed to take on China's Xu Chan on February 23 in Kunming City in Yunnan Province. Baillie (2W-1KO-1L) and Chan (4W-0KO-1L) will meet in a six round super featherweight bout on a card presented by Zovi Promotions. "It's a big fight for me, and a big opportunity," Josh Baillie said. "As an amateur I fought in England, Denmark,Scotland and Wales and now as a pro i'm excited to add China to the list. "Xu Chan is a good fighter, he's ranked number two in China. "He's won 4 of his 5 bouts and looks like a top prospect. "However it's a fight I'm confident I can win and I can't wait to get in there. "I've got around 5 weeks to go so I'm going to put in the hard work in gym. "I've got some great team mates at Smithy's Gym and sparring and working beside them I know I'll be in great shape. Josh Baillie also has extra motivation for this bout in China. It will be his first as a father. His partner Lisa gave birth to a baby daughter, Bella in October last year. "She's 100% my motivation, I want to achieve things, win fight's and win belts so she's got something to be proud of about her dad - that's a massive motivation for me." Baillie said. "I have a busy life, I work full time, train full time and now we have Bella - it's tough at times, but I'm living my dream as a professional boxer so I don't care how hard it has - I'll just work harder." Baillie's Trainer Manager Brendon Smith set up this bout with Zovi Promotions. "I would like to thank Blake Zhou from Zovi Promotions, he's been great to deal with and I'm sure this won't be the last fight we sign together," Brendon Smith said. "Zovi is one of the biggest promotional companies in Asia so this is a big opportunity for Josh. "The fight will be in front of a packed crowd but I'm sure Josh is up to the challenge. "He's training well and getting some great rounds in the gym, we'll be ready come February 23. Baillie and his team plan on flying out to China on February 20. |
