NBA -- Butler's 33 extends Bulls' win streak to 6
By Homer D. Sayson PhilBoxing.com Sun, 28 Dec 2014

CHICAGO -- The Butler did it. Again.
Jimmy Butler tacked on another splendid effort to his fine season, scoring 33 points on 12-for-18 shooting to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 107-100 victory over the visiting New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night at the United Center.
Butler's output plus 19 points from Derrick Rose gave the Bulls their sixth straight win. Chicago guns for a seventh win when they travel to Indiana to face the Pacers on Monday night.
"I feel like we got easy baskets as a team. We rebounded the ball well and we got into the open court and we got a lot of open lay-ups. When we're playing like that, I think we're really, really hard to beat," Butler, an impending free agent, told the Associated Press.
Besides out-rebounding the Pelicans, bench play was also crucial for the Bulls as reserved Nikola Mirotic, Taj Gibson and Aaron Brooks combined for 35 points.
Chicago native Anthony Davis, one of the league's rising stars, recorded an MVP-like effort of 29 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks for the Pelicans. Tyreke Evans had 26 while Jrue Holiday tallied 19. Ryan Anderson drilled 13 off the bench,
The hottest team in the NBA, the 21-9 Bulls remained in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, just two games off the 23-7 Toronto Raptors, who sit on top at first place.
The Pelicans fell to 15-15, 9th place in the Western Conference. (Homer D. Sayson)
