NBA -- Mavs pounce weary Warriors, 116-91

SAN FRANCISCO -- Playing in their fourth game in five nights, the Golden State Warriors had little energy to run with the fast-breaking Dallas Mavericks and lost badly Saturday night at the American Airlines Center in downtown Dallas.

The Mavericks unloaded 30 first quarter points on the way to a comfortable 62-36 halftime lead. Dallas then went on a 14-0 run to start the fourth quarter, putting the game beyond doubt.

Shawn Marion, who had hugged headlines lately over his unhappiness with trade rumors involving him, made a strong case why the Mavs should keep him. The veteran power forward, who helped Dallas win it all in 2011, finished with 26 points and 11 rebounds while Dirk Nowitzki added 15 and six rebounds.

Dallas' starting guards proved too much for Golden State's as O.J. Mayo and Darren Collison combined for a whopping 37 points and 17 assists. Dallas also proved tougher off the boards and out muscled the Warriors, 52-44.

Warriors ace Stephen Curry struggled again, scoring only 18 while missing 18 of 23 shots. Golden State's other guard, Klay Thompson, did no better, scoring 11 points on 4-for-14 shooting. David Lee put up only 10 and six rebounds.

The Warriors made only 34 of 89 shots for 38.2 percent but they converted six of 16 triples.

Despite their fourth consecutive defeat, Warriors head coach Mark Jackson told NBA.com "We're fine, there's no panic. We lost another game. We didn't play well. We made mistakes. We did not put together 48 minutes of basketball. But there's going to be no panic, we're going to regroup and be preparing for the next one."

With a 30-21 record, the Warriors are No.2 in the Pacific Division behind the 36-17 Los Angeles Clippers. (JSM)
