SAN FRANCISCO -- Sidelined by two games with an ankle injury, sweet-shooting Stephen Curry returned to action on Saturday night and did what he does best -- score a lot.

Sinking 11 of 20 field goals, including 6-for-10 behind the 3-point arc, Curry finished with 29 points as the Golden State Warriors manhandled the Phoenix Suns, 113-93, at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. The 6-foot-3 Curry also turned in eight assists in 42 minutes of action.

Trailing 52-48 at the half, the Warriors turned a close contest into a second half rout. Behind Curry's onslaught, the Warriors rained 65 points in the third and fourth quarters. Golden State's defense, which is often overshadowed by its explosive offense, also came through and held the Suns to 31 second-half points.

All-Star David Lee reinforced Curry's outburst with 16 points and 12 rebounds while rookie Harrison Barnes had a stellar effort, 21 points and eight rebounds. The Warriors, who shot nine of 19 threes. also got 17 and seven rebounds from Klay Thompson. Andrew Bogut added 11 and seven boards.

With the win, the 30-17 Warriors stayed within range of the 34-14 Los Angeles Clippers, who leads the Pacific Division.

"This is a good feeling to be right in the thick of that race for the fourth (playoff) spot. We're watching that, and we're taking it game-by-game," Curry told the San Jose Mercury News.

The resurgent Michael Beasley led the Suns with 24 points while Jared Dudley pumped 16.

The Suns fell to 16-32. (JSM)
