MALIGNAGGI WARNS MCGREGOR MAY BE DISQUALIFIED

Paulie Malignaggi warned that UFC MMA champion Conor McGregor may be disqualified in his upcoming fight with Floyd Mayweather. Malignaggi had a bad misunderstanding with McGregor after Conor's team released images showing Malignaggi falling on the mat and absorbing punishment during sparring session. Mayweather watched those footages and thought McGregor was applying dirty tactics on Malignaggi.

Malignaggi said referee Joe Cortez deducted two points from McGregor during that sparring each for rabbit punching and for pushing behind the head. The former two-division champion said McGregor would use MMA tactics that are prohibited in the boxing ring like holding the head of the opponent and pushing it down.

The betting odds in Las Vegas shifted in favor of McGregor when it was approved that the fighters will wear 8-ounce gloves. Pursuant to the Nevada State Athletic Commission rules regarding the 154-pound weight class, the category of the fight, the boxers are required to wear 10-ounce gloves.

William Hill U.S., owner of more than 100 sports books throughout Nevada, improved McGregor’s odds to +425 (bet $100 to win $425), as it tightened from the +450 price for about two weeks. While bookmakers at William Hill believe the ruling favors McGregor, some boxing analysts disagree with that theory.

ESPN boxing analyst Max Kellerman said that smaller gloves help Mayweather. “He’s the one that will be doing all the hitting,” Kellerman said this on-air. Since the fight was announced. Mayweather started as the -1100 favorite at William Hill, with McGregor originally rated at +700, but with 95 percent of the bets and 76 percent of the money placed on McGregor, the price has inclined toward McGregor’s favor.

The light welterweight unification fight between Terence Crawford (31-0-0, 22 KOs) and Julius Indongo (22-0, 11 KOs) will take place today at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska. Every major world title in boxing (WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, The Ring, and lineal) will be fought to determine the light welterweight division's first undisputed champion since Kostya Tszyu in 2004, and the first time all the titles are at stake in a single championship fight since Bernard Hopkins fought Jermain Taylor in 2005.

"It means a lot to me being it's the first time all four belts have been on the line at one time in a long time," Crawford was quoted by ESPN. "Only been done (three times) ever before. I am just ready for the moment and excited for the fight. This is what we do it for, to be called one of the best in the world, in the division. Why not shoot for greatness?"

Crawford said he would consider to move up to the welterweight division to face Keith Thurman in the future. Indongo said he is not concerned about the underdog tag and expects to pull off another shock victory.

Luis Nery (24-0-0, 18 KO's) was honored home in Tijuana, Mexico after he knocked out Japanese champion Shinsuke Yamanaka who defended his WBC bantamweight belt for the 13th time in Japan. "Luis Nery is an example for our community, you are a pride of Tijuana! Sportsmen like you honor Tijuana, motivate young people to fight for their dreams and be good citizens. Congratulations on this impressive achievement," said the Tijuana. Mayor Juan Manuel Gastelum Buenrostro.

Zanfer CEO Fernando Beltran, Nery's promoter, disclosed the possibility that in November ¨Pantera¨ Nery will defend his crown in Tijuana. Nery shocked Yamanaka with a barrage of combinations forcing the referee to stop the fight at Shimadzu Arena in Kyoto with 29 seconds left in the fourth round.

Before the fight Yamanaka was 27-0-2. It was Nery's first time that he had boxed outside his home country. The new champion remains undefeated in 24 fights. Yamanaka, 34, was previously rated at No.10 pound-for-pound by The Ring Magazine but he left the ring in tears, bowing as a show of thanking the crowd for their support.

Nery, just 22 years-old, has defeated Filipino boxers Raymond Tabugon by TKO, Richie Mepranum by TKO, and John Mark Apolinario by TKO. Tabugon knocked Nery down in the first round, handing the Mexican the first knockdown of his career. Later Nery stopped Tabugon in the fourth round. Born and residing in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, the southpaw fighter has a very high knockout rate of 75%.
