CEBU, Philippines – The Philippines' longest reigning world champion Donnie 'Ahas' Nietes had to take off his underwear to make weight as he and his Thai opponent Komgrich Nantapech stepped the scales at the flyweight limit of 112 lbs during the official weighin held at Robinson's Galleria here Friday ahead of their IBF world flyweight championship fight Saturday night at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino headlining the 'Pinoy Pride 40' boxing event.

Nietes (39-1-4, 22KOs), first scaled at 112.4 lbs then tried again to register at 112.2 lbs before he took off his underwear to finally weighed 112 lbs. Nantapech (22-3-0, 15KOs) breezed in at 112 lbs during his first try to the scale.

“No, it's just the underwear putting the extra weight. It's nothing,” Nietes said afterwards.

IBF supervisor Fritz Gaston holds up the IBF belt as Donnie Nietes and Komgrich Nantapech pose during Friday's official weighin at the Robinson's Galleria in Cebu.

Nietes has to strip naked to make weight.

In the featured undercard, Mark 'Magnifico' Magsayo (15-0-0, 11KOs) of Tagbilaran, Bohol, came in at 126.2 lbs while his opponent from Tanzania Issa Nampepeche (24-7-4, 11KOs) came in at 124.2 lbs for their 10 round featherweight contest.

Jeo Santisima (12-2-0, 11KOs) of Aroroy, Masbate weighed in at 122.8 lbs while his opponent from Indonesia Master Suro (11-8-1, 2KOs) came in at 122.4 lbs.

The IBF world title weighin was supervised by IBF supervisor and GAB commissioner Fritz Gaston together with Cebu GAB official Rolando Mendoza.

The referee for the Nietes-Nantapech fight is Gerard White of Palo Alto, California while the judges are Greg Ortega from the Philippines, Somsak Sirianant from Thailand and Katsuhiko Nakamura from Japan. He refereed the Johnriel Casimero vs Maruricio Fuentes IBF world light flyweight on May 3, 2014, also at the Waterfront Hotel, where Casimero was stripped of his title after failing to make weight..
