Mandaue City, Cebu -- Kenny Demecillo retained his WBF Aspac bantamweight crown by outpointing Jestoni Autida in a 10-round barn burner in the co-feature fight of the Jack Tepora vs Galih Susanto WBO Oriental super bantamweight championship at the Mandaue City Sports & Cultural Center here Friday night.

Demecillo (12-3-2, 7KOs) of the Omega Gym took the early rounds with a controlled aggression as Autida (9-6-0, 4KOs) tried to time his punches. In the 5th, Autida, from the Penalosa stable, connected with an overhand right that staggered Demecillo. Autida put on the pressure but Demecillo survived the round. In the 6th, Demecillo was again in dire straits as Autida connected with a hard left to Demecillo's chin. The referee momentarily halted the fight to fix the loose tape on Autida's glove allowing Demecillo to have a respite. Demecillo connected with a flurry on Autida when the fight resumed. As both fighters seemed to tire, Demecillo coasted in the last four rounds. Judges Edgar Olalo, Arnie Najera and Teddy Alivio had identical scores of 97-93 in favor of Demecillo.

In another co-feature, Undefeated Cristian Araneta (13-0-0, 11KOs) of the Omega Gym came from behind to knock out Philip Luis Cuerdo (9-3-1, 4KOs) of the Penalosa stable in the 7th round in their scheduled 10-round junior flyweight bout. Cuerdo took the opening round as the busier fighter but Araneta came back in the second as he found his distance. A phone booth fight ensued in the 3rd with both fighters throwing bombs in a give and take fight. In the 4th round, Cuerdo connected with a well-timed left cross that wobbled Araneta. Cuerdo tried to finish the fight but Araneta showed his toughness and survived the round. Both fighters took a breather in the 5th as both fighters looked winded. In the 6th the intense action returned where Araneta got the better of the exchanges. In the 7th, Araneta connected with hard shots to the fading Cuerdo who was backing up. Araneta cornered Cuerdo in the red corner and after a flurry of punches Cuerdo went down unable to beat the count. The three judges had identical 4 rounds to 2 in favor of Cuerdo at the end of the 6th round.

Phiippine Olympian Mark Anthony Barriga (3-0-0, 0KOs) won by technical decision over Rodel Kirk Pelenio (3-2-1, 2KOs) in their 8-round scheduled junior flyweight contest. Barriga, displaying his superior boxing skills, clearly outpointed Pelenio the entire fight until a clash of heads at 1:25 in the 5th round inflicted a deep cut on the right eyebrow of Barriga. Ring physician Jose Unabia recommended the halt of the fight as the bout went to the scorecards.

House fighter Jason Redondo (11-4-2, 7KOs) got into a street fight against journeyman Ryan Quimbo who wore 10-ounce gloves as he came in overweight at 136 lbs for their super featherweight fight during Thursday's weighin. Quimbo connected with the more telling punches in the first half of the fight but slowed down in the later rounds allowing Redondo to rally down the stretch. The fight ended in a split draw. Scores: Noel Flores – 77-75 for Quimbo; Arnel Passion – 77-75 for Redondo and Atty Manios, 76-76.

5th fight, 8 rounds bantamweight: Jhaleel Payao (14-1-0, 8KOs) made short work Nicong Calamba who went down in the first round and down again at the closing seconds of the 2nd round where he was unable to beat the referee's count. Payao won by KO. Time: 2:58 of the second round.

4th fight, 6 rounds featherweight: Tomjune Mangubat knocks out Michael Padayag (3-7-1, 0KOs) at 1:36 of the first round with a right uppercut.

3rd fight, 6 rounds super bantamweight: Jay-Ar Aliasot (4-1-0, 4KOs) won by TKO over Ronald Garcia (2-11-0, 0KOs) in 3rd when Garcia, who after 13 fights, is seemed still haven't learned the boxing fundamentals, refused to continue fighting after sustaining a cut in his eyebrow.

Taneo (R) connected with a left at De La Cruz.

In a 6-round scheduled bantamweight contest, Feljun Taneo (7-1-0, 4KOs) dictated the tempo and dominated Frejun de la Cruz (3-7-1, 3KOs) inflicting heavy damage to De La Cruz with accurate punches to the head and body in the first four rounds. De La Cruz refused to come out in the 5th round for a TKO victory by Taneo.

In the opening bout scheduled for 4 rounds in the bantamweight, Marjun Piencenaves registered his 2nd knockout win in as many fights when he downed debuting Jesrel Corabal with a vicious left hook to the chin of Corabal at 22 seconds of the very first round.
