Reveco and Vor Saengthep To Unify WBA Flyweight World Title

In a mandatory clash, WBA "Regular" Flyweight World Champion Juan Carlos Reveco, 30, of Argentina and WBA Interim Champ Yodmongkol Vor Saengthep (R) of Thailand will unify their titles in Argentina in early October, the World Boxing Association has informed.

"The two camps have reached an agreement and the title fight will take place in Argentina; date and venue are being worked out," explained the WBA.

In his last two outings, the Argentinian 2-division world champion Reveco (34-1, 18 KO's), pulverized lanky Panamanian Manuel Vides in March and outpointed the tough Felix Alvarado of Nicaragua in June.

Meanwhile, the Thai Yodmongkol Vor Saengthep (34-2, 20 KO's) comes from scoring a successful first defense of his WBA interim belt with a close majority decision win over Japanese Takuya Kogawa.

Vor Saengthep captured the WBA interim 112-lbs strap with a TKO win over Koki Eto in November of last year.

It will be the first time that Vor Saengthep - a former WBC Youth Champ - fights outside of his native Thailand and the first time that he battles an opponent of the class and experience of Juan Carlos Reveco.

Vor Saengthep became a pro boxer in 2009, the same year that Reveco captured his first world title.

Reveco seems the logical pick among fans, though in boxing we never know.

Will the 23 year-old Vor Saengthep score the biggest victory of his career by traveling to Argentina and dethroning a durable world champion as Juan Carlos Reveco? Or will Reveco be a warrior too tough for the younger Thai?

We'll find out.
