The country’s two-division champion Luisito Espinosa arrived in the Philippines Wednesday to pursue his case against promoters of his ill-fated world title defense several years ago in Mindanao.
In an interview with sportsnews.ph, Espinosa said he will be staying in the Philippines for about three weeks and hopes to get concrete development regarding his case against promoter Rod Nazario, matchmaker Lito Mondejar and former South Cotabato governor Larry de Pedro.

DESPITE being dragged as a respondent in the 11-year case involving Luisito Espinosa’s unpaid prize purse in his 1997 title fight with Argentine Carlos Rios, long-time boxing promoter Rod Nazario said he’s planning to raise enough money to help the former two-time world champion start a new life.
Nazario refused to divulge details of his fund-raising program for the 40-year-old Espinosa, but said he’s going out of his way to help the Filipino boxing hero get the justice long overdue him.
